Congrats man, that is quite an achievement. How many more years do you plan on working? I bet those 20 years went by fast. I am on the 6063 and the waiting is the worst part, unless they extend the list when it expires on Feb/2012 I am out of luck.
I found your blog through DSNYStrongest Forums, which I found online from doing a search of the 6063 exam. Be safe out there. Thanks for helping keep NYC clean.
Whats your list number, they’re hiring in Sept, how many is unknown, this is just scuttlebutt, so don’t quote me. good luck!
Even though they extended the list until Feb/2014,it’s going to take a long time for me(5,650). Another rumor is that there will be a class of 100 in August and September. This I read online and the source was a union delegate….they say the list moves faster as you get into the higher numbers, only time will tell. I find your posts very informative.
Thanks Al for your kind words, It is true the longer the list goes the faster they go thru the numbers for numerous reasons like people move and don’t stay in touch with DCAS taking it for granted that DCAS knows your new address, people get locked up, and of cause people pass away unfortunately. You also have a lot of people retiring, they’re retiring in record numbers Al.
So keep your fingers cross and stay in touch with your DSNY connections. Good Luck Al, and if I see you”re getting close I’ll let you know.
