I have always been amazed on what little does the public and for that fact DSNY as a whole knows what goes on a daily basis with getting that one can or stop picked up.
Since day one I have been hanging out with the mechanics and that gave me a better insight to what it takes to get that can picked up, it starts with them!
As a GU and a Garage Officer there is no better friend than a good mechanic and these guys/girls are some of the best out there.
I use to check in with them right before or after signing in, it seem to me that they always had some good information or a good story to tell me. In the good old days they even had breakfast made or at least a hot cup of coffee to start the day and on Saturdays they will sometimes have a good hot lunch. Well times have changed, like everybody else on this job they too have taken a toll on moral with this micro management style of supervising.
🙁 Oh well welcome to the family.
PS: When you get in that car or truck say a prayer for these guys/girls your life is always in their hands!
